Disclosure Policy for The Basics of Blogging

To comply with the recent FTC ruling which basically says that bloggers must disclose any freebies or payments that receive, I would like to clear up some things for anyone who is visiting my blog.

I’m a blogger, as in this is my job. Trust me, it’s as fancy as it sounds. And yes, I am writing this from a dimly lit coffee house while wearing fashion frame glasses and sipping an Americano. (truth: I’m in my pajamas at home writing this as my daughter naps)

As any job, I rely on blogging for my income. Meaning I may be paid in a variety of ways such as:

  • Affiliate links (I love ’em so much I wrote an eBook on them)
  • Product reviews (I once sent a product back because I did not feel I could even mention it on my site because it was THAT bad. So don’t worry, the free product or payment will NEVER sway my opinion)
  • Social Media posts (again, I’m not about to be photographed with something I don’t love, so trust that if it’s on my Instagram, I <3 it!)

Now this isn’t always the case, there are TONS of posts on here with links to products and services that I am NOT being paid to post. Since it is so hit or miss, I have decided to just post my disclosure on every single blog post. So just like so many men and women hustle at the office every day, I’m hustling at home. But I’m doing it with my readers interest in mind. You can’t put a price tag on trust and I don’t intend to put my readers loyalty on the market any time soon!
