How to switch from HTTP to HTTPS. Make your site secure and improve your google ranking!

If you have the blog post on how to become an SEO superstar, you know that having a secure website can give you some major SEO points when it comes to search engines showing your content in their top rankings.

You see, Google has a reputation to protect, they only want to be known for delivering the best quality results for the persons search. That’s how Google came to be Google. We all know it can help you find the answer to just about anything. Well, tell them you are trustworthy with a secure site!

Luckily for us bloggers, this change can be simple through your host.

I am currently with BlueHost and this tutorial will include the steps to take with BlueHost. I am not familiar with the process for any other hosts, but I have heard that SiteGround is an easy install as well.

To start, log into your BlueHost account.

Next, select the Add-Ons tab at the top of your c-panel.

Scroll until you see the SSL Certificate section. Select “learn more”.

On the next screen, verify you have the correct URL and click install.

That’s it! BlueHost will get to work with installing the security certificate and you will now be an HTTPS site.

Now, before I did this, I had a few questions, so I reached out to BlueHost for some clarification.

My biggest concern was that any of my backlinks that included HTTP would not redirect correctly once I was switched to HTTPS. Here’s the convo that calmed all my worries!
